Snowflakes

The class started off with a reading of The Mitten. Afterwards, the children made decorative snowflakes out of coffee filters which were beautifully colored with watercolor paint.

Leaf Wreath

With fall in full swing and the leaves changing colors, I encouraged the kids to create a fall wreath keepsake. They were constructed out of paper plates, brown paint mixed with glue, artificial leaves of varying colors, tissue paper, and ribbon.

Tracing

Today we did tracing! We taped (using painter’s tape) a variety of blank and white coloring pages onto the tables, and taped tracing paper on top of those. Decoupage

It was decoupage day! The group first sorted through old magazines, maps of Chicago, and playing cards and ripped out images they liked. Then they each picked out a cigar box and affixed their scraps using Mod Podge. Great results, including some fun surprises when you open the boxes up!

Wacky Wardrobe

As part of Wacky Wardrobe Day, we decorated small wooden figurines with markers and dressed them in tissue paper. In some cases the figures were given favorite articles of clothing, and in others the style was a little more eclectic. By the end we had a big extended family of fashionable figurines.

Fall

We celebrated the arrival of fall with leaf cutouts and colored yarn. After picking their shapes and colors, the Protons and Quarks wrapped the yarn around to make a soft fuzzy leaf. And in the end, several were pinned to the (very handsome!) co-op fall tree!
