I asked the kids what they would like to learn in math games. They gave some great suggestions of games and puzzles. I told them we would incorporate as much as we could. But that I would also be bringing in math enrichment lessons. We started off with a great book I have on paper airplanes. We selected a basic paper airplane and the children listened to my directions and followed along as I read them aloud. The airplane we chose to make was called the Dart Plane. Once we made the airplanes we went into the hallway to test them. We came back in and attempted another airplane which was called the “Slow Plane” and this was a little bit more difficult but we managed to finish it and test it in the hallway also. We came back in and discussed the trial and errors of our planes and the differences of how they flew. We had some time left and played a math Puzzle game for the remainder time.
Some of the math concepts that were introduced were symmetry, measurements and turn taking.
