This week I got to hang out with the Neutrons and the Electrons for art! We made one of my favorite projects. Water colors with masking tape resists. We ripped peices of tape to make birch tree shapes applied to water color paper, then used water colors over the tape and on the paper, and sprinkled salt onto the water colors. The salt gives the water colors a nice texture. The kids used a hair dyer to thoroughly dry their paintings before removing the tape and brushing off the salt. Lastly they went in with a small brush and black paint to put in the fine details of birch bark. The paintings are beautiful.
