Last Thursday I introduced blackout poetry to the kids. Blackout poetry is a different way to create poetry. To create the poems you use an already existing text from a book or newspaper and use a black marker to remove words until a poem is formed. The text I used was different pages from James P Blaylock’s The Digging Leviathan. It’s a creative and fun way to get kids excited about words and art.
