Our mini-lesson today was on writing dialogue. Partners worked together to spot examples in books and then write examples of their own. We focused on indenting when a new person speaks, putting quotation marks around what is said, varying the “tags” (not just said, but asked, whispered, screamed, and sometimes no tags at all…mix it up to keep it interesting!), and adding description (like – Allie whispered while shaking her head  or – Nope! Jules ran off quickly before his mom could ask more!) Ask your kiddos to spot/point out these dialogue examples in the books they are reading!

Everyone had a chance to make a plan for the day in their folders and start or continue working on these. Next week, we will have a more “mini” mini-lesson to ensure more writing and sharing time!
