Writing Workshop: Starting in the Action

Our mini-lesson today was “starting in the action” for our narrative/creative writing! The kids worked in partners to write examples, and then shared. We were certainly drawn into these (potential) stories! Then, as usual, everyone made plans for themselves for today, studiously scribbled away, and then did a bit more sharing. We are starting to notice examples of sensory details and dialogue in each other’s writing. Good ear for detail…this will come in handy when we start offering peer feedback in the new year 😉 For now, keep writing these first drafts in many genres. Experimenting and sharing is fun 🙂
