What is the setting of the book?
The setting is a place called Belle-on-sea, at the main character’s bakeshop. Later, she travels to Paris using an airship. Its name is Le Bonbon. The last setting is at the top of the Eiffel Tower.
Who is/are the main character(s)? What are they like?
The main character is Bridget Vanderpuff. She is very smart, and brave too. Her best friend is Tom, a very friendly and funny guy. Since Tom stays in Belle-on-sea, Bridget meets a new friend: Stacy. Stacy is brave, and looks up to Bridget. The bad guys are the League of Meanies. I won’t tell you about its members — it’s secret! Bridget’s dad is a world-famous baker, too!
What is the conflict of the story?
While traveling on Le Bonbon, Bridget sees a sinister hooded figure! They chase the Hood until a witness called Marcus O’Malley tells them he went through the window. But while Bridget is on the roof, Le Bonbon turns upside down!!! Bridget sees the Hood parachute down to Paris. Worst of all, they can’t find Mr. Vanderpuff’s famous golden whisk!
What was the conclusion of the book?
Bridget and Stacy follow a series of clues all over Paris. It finally leads to the culprit (drumroll)… Mr. O’Malley! It turns out Mr. O’Malley WAS the hood — he made Bridget and Stacy follow him, took off his cape, and told them the Hood went through the open window. Then he turned Le Bonbon upside down, stole the whisk, and stuffed her dad’s baking equipment and the whisk in his coat! Then he threw them out the window with a parachute. O’Malley and Bridget found out the whisk fell at the top of the Eiffel tower, so they raced! Bridget had the whisk but fell — onto Le Bonbon! They apprehended O’Malley.
While reading the book, what were your emotions?
It was SO exciting! I was trembling when Bridget fell. That was scary! But it was bittersweet when Stacy left for Norway. I loved when Bridget got back to her bakeshop. I was happy everything was fine.
Do you think the book had a moral? If so, what was it?
The moral probably was “Don’t steal — that makes people unhappy.” O’Malley wanted people to be unhappy, so he met his downfall. But mostly: “Don’t mess with Bridget Vanderpuff, the world’s most famous detective!”
