The Community Organization for Near West Homeschoolers is a secular not-for-profit 501(c)3 organization that offers homeschool enrichment activities for homeschooling families. Our formal program meets weekly Sept-May, and we also offer summer Park Days and sporadic field trips and other special events. We were founded in and are officially based in Oak Park and currently meet in River Forest. Our organization serves families from Chicago and its surrounding suburbs.
Our mission is to create an environment for educational enrichment where homeschooling families can work cooperatively in an atmosphere of mutual respect, organized structure with flexibility, and interest driven exploration. Our members incorporate and follow a wide variety of homeschooling definitions, methodologies, and philosophies. We strive to be inclusive of all members of the homeschooling community and everybody is welcome.
