What is the setting of the book? |
The story takes place in Emily‘s neighborhood. Some happens in her house, at her school, and in Rodent Town. |
Who is/are the main character(s)? What are they like? |
Emily is the main character. She is a sad girl whose parents keep flying away. She’s very rich and can hear rats when they speak. |
What is the conflict of the story? |
Emily‘s not so nice nanny keeps giving her parents potato rolls that have a chinchilla’s footprint in it. The chinchilla has a power to make people care about things they normally don’t and not care about things they normally do, such as parents caring for their child. Ms. Barmy is a very mean lady who works for Emily‘s family. |
What was the conclusion of the book? |
Ms. Barmy gets turned into a rat and cannot turn back in a human because the rat that can shrink people has a sister whose kisses bring people back to normal, but it doesn’t work on her because she is too mean. Emily and her friend Joe go back to their families, and Emily‘s parents go back to normal. |

Take care of your children. I really think that’s the main lesson. |
