Willie May told Rob a story, when he asked if he should let the tiger go, about when she was young and she let a Parakeet go – in her story the Parakeet died after she let it go. Willie May warned that caged animals can’t always survive outside of their cages.
What was the conclusion of the book?
Rob and Sistene let the tiger go but, Rob’s Father shot the Tiger because it was dangerous.
While reading the book, what were your emotions?
I felt sad for Rob because he didn’t have friends and during the end part of the book because the Tiger got killed. I felt happy though when Rob and Sistine became close friends. I was also angry at Beuchamp for locking the Tiger up in a cage. I also wanted to know more at the end of the book – did Beauchamp notice the tiger was gone? Did Sistine and Rob stay friends? Did Rob get happier? Did Rob and his Father’s relationship improve?
Do you think the book had a moral? If so, what was it?
Never lock a wild animal up – especially a tiger. It’s hard to know what is right. It’s important to be honest with your friends.
Star Rating
Selected Value: 4 (0 min / 10 max)
Why did you give the book this rating?
Because I wish Robs dad would have just led the tiger back into the cage or let it go in the woods. The death of the tiger wasn’t fair.
What was your favorite/least favorite part?
Favorite : When Rob becomes friends with Sistine
Least Favorite : When Robs Father shot the tiger
Would you recommend this book to others? Why?
Yes, if the reader is at least 10 years old because it’s at a good reading level for them and the story contains good but hard truth.
No, for anyone under 10 because it might be too hard for them to read and because they might not be able to handle some of the sadness or hard truths.
