This week in art class, the Neutrons and Electrons each made Tin Can Creatures. We started with soup cans and used supplies like doll hair, pipe cleaners, paper, corks and more to craft unique creatures. We ended up with things
Snowflakes
The class started off with a reading of The Mitten. Afterwards, the children made decorative snowflakes out of coffee filters which were beautifully colored with watercolor paint.
Yearbook Portraits
This week Jeff brought in a bunch of cool equipment so the Photons could experiment with lighting and take portraits for the yearbook.
Math Art
Today, we made spirolateral math art. I can’t quite put into words what that means, but find an Electron and they should be able to show you! We used multiplication, skip counting, graphing and patterning in our art.
Winter
Today we started our winter exploration with a group project of a winter-themed collage. We created snowflakes, snowman, winter animals and other cool items. We will continue our project next week.
Patients
This week with the Photons,we looked at work by Stephan Draschan who spends time in museums and galleries waiting for visitors to match art works. We were able to see how he used many of the techniques we have been
Slime!
Today we made basic slime with glue, Tide and food dye. Kids experimented with activating the slime while making sure it is not over-activated. We had a lot of messy fun. We will continue with more slime this week!
Leaf Wreath

Today we started working on a wreath project, Kids did wonderful job threading mesh into a wreath form, we even had one starwars themed wreath. We continued working on our beaded projects from last week.
Coral Reefs
Today, Neutrons were studying ocean habitats in Writer’s Workshop, so we made coral reefs in art class. We used styrofoam semi-spheres, pipe cleaners, beads, and plastic discs to make colorful coral reefs. All of the kids worked hard and went
