red-fernSETTING
Billy and his family lived in the Ozark Mountains, Cherokee land, in northeastern Oklahoma during the Great Depression.
GENRE
Historical Fiction
CHARACTERS / SUBJECT MATTER
Billy is a 13-year-old boy and all he wants are two good Coonhounds.  His dogs are also a big part of the book and their names are Old Dan and Little Ann.
PROBLEM OR CONFLICT
Billy wants some Coonhounds but both his father and mother don’t have the money.
FAVORITE PART OR CONCLUSION
He sold berries to all the shops in his little town and he also sold veggies to the fishermen. Finally, he saves up to buy two Coonhounds and go to the coon hunting championship.
I felt happy when Billy got his dogs but sad when they died by the mountain lion.
RATING

I gave it 5 stars because it really just did bring out all of your emotions. I loved the book and I hope you try it out.
