There are many piles of toys, such as a big pile of red wagons, a pile broken swing sets, and a toy dog made of a tin can, springs, and a wrench for a bone. Keats and Henry are the only people there.
List all of the main characters in the book, and share a little bit of information about each character.: The main characters are Keats, Henry, and the Junkyard Hog.The Junkyard Hog is a flying hog with sharp tusks. The hog was created by magic and wanted to find a magical compass so he could fly out of the junkyard and no longer be kept in the junkyard.
Keats and Henry are cousins that live next door to each other. They have a magician friend that is Mr. Cigam. Keats and Henry are both 9 years old. They got sent to the junkyard because they accepted a quest from Mr. Cigam’s step sisters to find the magical compass.
If there was a problem presented in the book, write three (3) sentences about it. Otherwise, write three sentences about your favorite part of the book.: My favorite part was the end of the book when Keats and Henry accidentally went into a car crusher. They escaped the car crusher, but went into the center of the junkyard where Mr. Cigam’s stepsisters told them not to go. They found the compass there but the hog stole it from them. They got the compass back by using a chain, a magical wand, and a spell that turned the hog’s tusks into asparagus. The hog dropped the flying charm and then was turned into a helpless little hog.
If there was a problem presented in the book, write three (3) sentences about how the problem was solved. If there was not problem, write three sentences about what you would have liked to have seen in the book that the author did not include.: After Keats and Henry defeated the hog, they got to choose a magical charm from the hog’s tusk. They chose Fidon’t’s (the tin can dog’s) bone, a wrench. I wish they could have picked three more charms to keep.
How did this book make you feel? Write three (3) sentences describing the feelings you had, when reading the book.: The book really didn’t make me feel like anything, but it was enjoyable.
