Last week I feel I redeemed myself. Maybe letting the kids decide between two projects helped?
The kids chose a collabrative project. At home I printed a somewhat abstract picture of a dog. I drew a grid on the print and cut out the squares. I gave each kid a square from my print and a blank square double the size. I asked them to recreate the image they were given onto the blank paper. The kids didn’t know what the whole image looked like so it was fun to put all their squares together to reveal what they were working on and to see how close it came to the original or not.
