We started reading “Moon: Earth’s Best Friend” by Stacy McAnulty. We learned a little about how the moon started and the different phases of the moon. We used air dry clay to make 8 different phases of the moon. In typical Quark fashion, some zipped through the activity while others took their time and created more things with the clay. As they finished their clay moon phases, some joined me to play a little lunar Yahtzee. I have to say I was very impressed with their math skills! Even the littles ones were adding up their dice independently in no time. We then wrapped up with finishing the book and learning more about what makes our moon special. Some of the quarks who didn’t get a chance to play the Yahtzee game chose to play during club time.
