Last week we studied vernal equinox. We reviewed all four seasons and talked about the things we’re looking forward to in spring (like trading in snow pants for shorts!). While reading “The reasons for seasons” by Gail Gibbons we talked about South and North Poles, equator and lengths of days, nights, months and a year. Fatou reminded us about the leap year and told us about what makes it special.

We then moved to the artistic part of the lesson, creating first flowers of the season out of toilet paper rolls and some color papers. We also got to play with paints (first time this year I think), working on spring coloring pages. This all happened to Vivaldi’s “Spring”, Tchaikovsky’s “Waltz of the Flowers” and Copland’s “Appalachian Spring” playing in the background.
