This myth is set in the time of Ancient Greece. The main character is from the city of Athens. Most of the action takes place on the island of Crete in the Aegean Sea.

CHARACTERS / SUBJECT MATTER
Theseus is the hero of the myth who is the prince of Athens. His father is Aegeus who is the King of Athens. King Minos is the King of Crete and his daughter, the princess, is Ariadne. There is a monster who is half bull and half human who eats people and lives in a labyrinth.
PROBLEM, CONFLICT or FAVORITE PART
The conflict is that each year King Aegeus of Athens has to send seven girls and seven boys to feed to the Minotaur because King Minos’ son died in the games at Athens. As punishment, King Minos demands Athenian youth to feed his monster every year. Theseus wants to kill the Minotaur so that no Athenians will be killed.
CONCLUSION
King Minos’ daughter, Princess Ariadne, loves Theseus and wants him to be safe and to kill the Minotaur. She gives Theseus a ball of thread so that he won’t get lost in the maze called a labyrinth. She also gives him his sword so that he can kill the Minotaur. He is successful.
I felt excited and adventurous when Theseus was fighting the Minotaur. Then, I felt happy when he killed the Minotaur and saved the twelve Athenians. At the end, I felt sad when Aegeus jumps in the sea.
RATING
I gave it three stars because it was nice in some ways but also sad. It was an interesting conflict and Theseus was a brave and strong hero. The part where Ariadne helped Theseus was also good because she had all the secrets of the labyrinth. But, I didn’t like the ending where Theseus’ father dies.
