This past week the Neutrons played a dice game we affectionately called “Chip-o.” Wheels were  turning and kids cheering before we even made it through the first round. We made (sometimes heated) observations of which numbers we kept rolling, and which we hadn’t yet rolled. A few kids started making check marks and notes near numbers rolled to help them decide where to place their chips the next round. As the game went on, more and more kids were taking notes and implementing their recordings. We stopped to talk about Theoretical Probability and Experimental Probability, and walked through the probability of rolling specific numbers. It was so much fun to watch the Neutrons figure out probability through a fun, hands-on game!
