Experiment Title: | Feel The Burn |
What was the purpose of your experiment? Provide a brief description of what you were hoping to learn, discover, or study.: | Why do you have to stop doing something hard? |
What was your hypothesis?: | Because you can get tired- while running, you can’t sprint for a whole marathon. |
What materials did you use in your experiment? List them all.: | Clothespin, phone timer. |
What procedure was followed? Provide a brief description of the steps you followed during your experiment.: | I tested how many times I could squeeze the clothespin in a minute. Then, I did it for one more minute. |
What were the results of your experiment?: | It was really hard and I got less squeezes on the second one. |
What is your conclusion after conducting the experiment? Was your hypothesis correct or incorrect?: | My hypothesis is correct. I could only get about half of the number I got in the first minute. |
Spend a few minutes learning about the scientific principles involved in your experiment. Write 3-4 sentences about what you learned and how it relates to your experiment.: | My muscles were burning off glucose fast enough for the lactate to begin building up. It’s just one of the warning signs that your body is working to hard. It’s tiring and it hurts. That’s why, for example, marathon runners pace themselves to not get too tired over the course of the race. |
