Experiment Title: | Bouncy egg |
What was the purpose of your experiment? Provide a brief description of what you were hoping to learn, discover, or study.: | I was hoping to learn how you can keep a raw egg from cracking when it bounces. |
What was your hypothesis?: | My hypothesis was that if you left an egg in vinegar for 24 hours, the shell would dissolve and the egg would be able to bounce without cracking. (I also thought the egg would start to stink) |
What materials did you use in your experiment? List them all.: | Jar Egg Vinegar Bowl |
What procedure was followed? Provide a brief description of the steps you followed during your experiment.: | 1. I filled the jar with some vinegar. 2. I placed the egg inside the jar. 3. I waited 24 hours. 4. I drained the jar and took out the egg. 5. I bounced it in the bowl. |
What were the results of your experiment?: | The egg did bounce after 24 hours in vinegar. |
What is your conclusion after conducting the experiment? Was your hypothesis correct or incorrect?: | My hypothesis was correct. |
Spend a few minutes learning about the scientific principles involved in your experiment. Write 3-4 sentences about what you learned and how it relates to your experiment.: | While the egg is submerged, the vinegar begins to dissolve the shell. If A long period of time passed the shell will completely dissolve leaving the thin membrane of the egg. The result is an egg that looks and feels like a bouncy ball. |
