What did you find? |
Engineer Goby |
Where did you find it? |
Shedd Aquarium |
How did you find it? |
Walking around the Shedd, I came across a tank with Engineer Gobys. I instantly became interested in this fish species. |
Use your senses. |
I couldn’t touch or feel the fish because it was in a glass tank. I spent time observing the fish and seeing it dig up sand and pebbles with its mouth. |
What is its role in nature? |
It lives in the coral reefs of the Pacific Ocean between the Philippines and the Salomon Islands. It makes tunnels with its mouth. It swims in schools that make it look like one organism. |
Why is it important to you? |
I like to build things and it was impressive to see a fish use it’s mouth to build tunnels. I have never seen that before. It also looks very interesting with its skin coloring. |
