We opened with a brief discussion of shelter: which animals shelter, what do their shelters look like, and why do they take shelter. Then we marched to the edge of the woods to construct our own shelter using a couple of tarps and some bungee cords. After some trial and error, we achieved something they could all comfortably fit within. Some of us pretended to be animals (there were coyotes, rabbits, dormice, and warrior mice), some gathered firewood, and we weighed various improvements to our new dwelling.
I saw lots of great teamwork and accommodating one another! They make up a strong crew, and it’s always fun to watch them work away at something together.
Also: many thanks to Kristin, who ended up hauling a lot of the logs 😆
