Today’s art class for Neutrons, Electrons, and Quarks focused on wax resist painting with watercolors. We used Spirals by Louise Bourgeois as our inspiration and attempted to execute a similar technique.

We used tape to create a grid (or other negative space) on watercolor paper, used white Crayola crayons as the wax, and then painted with watercolors.

Pretty much all of the students seemed to enjoy the opportunity to paint. They all were focused and engaged, and ended up with some beautiful pieces! Unfortunately I don’t have a picture of the final results, but they may be coming in the week’s photos as I know another parent was planning on taking a photo.
