| What is the setting of the book? |
| There was no setting, but there are some notable places fossils can be found, so I’ll talk about one instead.The Burgess shale is a layer of rock found in the Rocky Mountains area of British Columbia, Canada. Most fossils have hard parts, but fossils found in the Burgess shale have soft bodies! This is because the area was buried in mud and animals were trapped in it. Since they didn’t have time to rot, the animals (and plants, too!) became fossils. |

| There was no conflict, again. |

| There wasn’t a conclusion, but the book ended with a section on fossil fuels, what they are, how they’re harmful to the environment, and how we’re turning to alternative energy sources. |

| This book had lots of great information about fossils and made me more excited to work on the Science Olympiad event, well, Fossils. I was very interested while reading the book. |

| I gave the book this rating because it had lots of good information in an easy-to-read and comprehendable way. The book also covered a wide variety of topics from how fossils form to a chapter about fossil fuels! |

| My favorite part was learning about the modes of fossil preservation! I think it’s very interesting all of the different ways organisms can be fossilized. I also liked learning about what scientists look at when identifying fossils. |
