It takes place in a forest. Owly likes to spend his time with his friend Wormy in the trees. |

Owly is an owl who doesn’t know how to fly. His best friend is Wormy, a worm that likes to sit on top of Owly’s head. They are great friends and help each other a lot. They like to make new friends and have adventures together. |
What is the conflict of the story? |
Wormy is trying to get Shadow, a flying squirrel, to befriend Owly. Shadow is scared of Owly because normally owls are predators to animals like squirrels. Wormy tries to convince Shadow that Owly is a great friend and will not hurt Shadow. |
What was the conclusion of the book? |
Wormy and Shadow went to visit Shadows house high up on a pine tree. We After Shadow glided down to the bottom of the forest, Wormy fell to the ground. Owly helped rescue his friend and brought him home. Shadow seeing how nice Owly was to his friend Wormy, realized that Owly is nice and they should become friends. Once they became friends Shadow taught Owly how to glide. |
While reading the book, what were your emotions? |
I was sad that Owly was excluded by Shadow because he is a predator. Shadow assumed that all owls are dangerous to small animals like squirrels. I was happy to see Owly and Shadow become friends. |
Do you think the book had a moral? If so, what was it? |
The moral of the book was don’t judge someone by the way they look. Your thinking might be wrong. Give everyone a chance to show you what they really are. |

It was fun to read and imagine the characters having adventures in the forest. I like the drawings as well. It had a good lesson. |
What was your favorite/least favorite part? |
My favorite part when Shadow and Owly became friends. My least favorite part was when Wormy and Shadow sneak out without Owly. |
Would you recommend this book to others? Why? |
I would recommend this book because it has lots of lessons for the reader. It’s fun to see the characters become friends. I think this book is great for 5-8 year olds. |
