| Josh: a young boy from New Jersey. He likes playing basketball, he came to California to visit his family during summer. Holly: Josh’s cousin. She lives with her mom in Northern California. She runs a little reptile rescue shelter. |
| What is the conflict of the story? |
| A wildfire breaks out, it’s a big one, and two cousins get trapped in it. They run through the forest looking for a way out, they follow the wild animals escaping. They choose to run towards the river but their path is blocked by burning bushes. They both get injured. |
| What was the conclusion of the book? |
| While trying to get to the river they find a zip line leading over the burning path. They plan on taking it all the way down to the river. After a short glide they let go of the zip line and land in water. Because of their injuries they can’t get out of the stream, they get stuck. Josh is exhausted and wants to take a break (while kicking the water). All of the sudden they hear a noise. It’s a helicopter and their old firefighter friends Eleanor and Lucas. Kids get air lifted out of the wildfire and after three weeks in a hospital they make a full recovery. |

| I was interested and worried about Josh and Holly. Although I had a feeling things will end well because the book is part of the “I survived” series after all. |

| I don’t think the book had a moral. |

| What was your favorite/least favorite part? |
| My favorite part of the book was when Lucas and Eleanor, seasoned firefighters, we’re telling kids their wildfires fighting stories. It takes being strong and brave to do their job. |
| Would you recommend this book to others? Why? |
| Yes, I would recommend this book to others. I really enjoyed the story but also the other half of the book which contained author’s notes. Lauren Tarahis shared many interesting facts about wildfires as well as some history facts. I feel like I learned a lot from that section. |
