Missy Piggle-Wiggle and the Sticky-Fingers Cure
Author(s)
Ann M. Martin with Annie Parnell
Genre
Fantasy
What is the setting of the book?
It takes place in a town named Little Spring Valley. The main character lives in an upside-down house.
Who is/are the main character(s)? What are they like?
The main character is Missy Piggle-Wiggle. She lives in the upside-down house with Lester (a pig who likes coffee and newspapers), Wag (a dog), Lightfoot (a cat), and Penelope (a parrot). Missy has cures for children who have bad habits. She has curly orange hair and is very friendly; the children love her.
What is the conflict of the story?
The Winter Effluvia (a magical disease that makes people and animals do strange things, like float in the air), has affected the house and the animals. Missy also has to give children cures for their habits: usually magical candies or vitamins or potions. For example, the Sticky-Fingers Cure (which is the one this book is named after) was given to a boy who liked to take things from other children, and it caused things to cling to him. Eventually he learned to not take things.
What was the conclusion of the book?
The Winter Effluvia passed, and the animals got well. But Missy gets sick, and Snowman the cat helps her with his magic eyes while she was sleeping. She cures a lot of the children, but not all of them; she will probably cure the rest in the next book.
While reading the book, what were your emotions?
I thought that it was funny! One of the children, Einstein J. Treadupon, kept yelling “FUN FACT!”I would like to live in Missy’s house! I would look outside and see through the upside-down window of the living room, and walk around to all the different rooms. I would have animals to talk to, who would understand me! That would be cool.
Do you think the book had a moral? If so, what was it?
My idea of a moral, was, like, “Be good. Don’t do bad habits.” I would have wanted another moral.

Why did you give the book this rating?
I gave the book this rating because it was active, fun, adventurous, and problem-solving. Reading, I felt like I was there, but no one could see me or hear me.
What was your favorite/least favorite part?
My favorite part was when Einstein J. Treadupon was in the bookstore, and he kept yelling “FUN FACT! FUN FACT!” He was interrupting the story, and I could tell everyone was getting irritated with him.
Would you recommend this book to others? Why?
I would recommend this book to others. You could see the comedy in it and meet the characters, and feel like you’re in the book.
