We are continuing our clay exploration by using air dry clay instead of ceramic clay. Each Muon was given a portion of clay to freely sculpt, roll, slap, wet, and shape in any way they liked. As they worked we talked about similarities and differences between the clays. The biggest difference being that air dry clay does not get out in an oven close to 2000 Fahrenheit. This means there is minimal reduction (pieces won’t shrink as much). A lot of the same techniques to build can be used with both air dry clay and ceramic clay like: scratch and attach, wetting to smooth, coil building, and slab building.

When the pieces sit dry clay pieces are ready to paint, we will use any paints.
