We started the day reading “Planting the Rainbow” by Lois Ehlert. It discusses how there are many options and color choices when planting a garden. Next we looked at some color swatches from various paint stores. We briefly discussed the fun names of each color. Next we took a little stroll around the perimeter of the field looking for nature items and finding the matching color swatch colors. We ended with recording what they observed in the field. It was very fun to see how different each kid decided to record their findings. Some chose to draw what they saw some used the actual swatches and glued those to their paper, others used crayons to represent their findings.

Next week we plan to explore the nature journal concept in more detail.
