Elizabeth Hurst was murdered. She was Head Girl. Daisy and Hazel are solving the mystery of who murdered her. The only people who could have done it were the five mean prefects (“The Five”).

Judy gets all her friends together and says, “We each get ten thrill points for a thing we haven’t done before, and if we get to 100 points before the end of the summer, this will be the best summer ever.” Her friends, Amy Namey and Rocky, are going away, so they have to count their thrill points individually.

Also, their teacher, Mr. Todd, gives them a pop quiz about what he’s doing this summer. It’s something cold, but nobody can guess what it is.

While Poppy was daydreaming, she wandered into a trap and tripped on the switch to shut her in. They have to get Poppy out of the trap, and get out safely from the trouble that the humans are causing. Gray House was for sale, and the family who was renting the nearby cabin was thinking of buying it.

It’s Magnolia’s birthday and she’s hosting a party with 12 other princesses as guests. She is trying to enjoy her day and then the monster alarm rings. That means she has to go under cover as princess in black to save the day. The monsters came out and tried eating the goats.

Eko took Lalo, the lightning dragon, away from the castle and the dragon masters. Eko believed Lalo needs to be a free dragon. Rori believed that Eko has a right to free the dragons. She also believed that they were captured and kept in the kingdom against their will.

In this book we meet Petra. She is the newest dragon master and she is paired up with hydra. It isn’t easy for Petra and hydra to become a team. Petra struggles and she thinks the dragon stone chose her by mistake. Hydra dragon poisons King Roland who rules Bracken.

Giant Vasty who lives in the far north lands has taken over Mina’s fortress. Her dragon, Frost, is being controlled by the giant. Mina is seeking help from the other dragon masters and Vulcan, the fire dragon.

The egg is part of the talent show but he doesn’t know what his talent is. He feels like he doesn’t have one.

While two of the dragons are away attending Queen Rose’s party in Arkwood, the Bracken kingdom is under attack. Maldred, the dark wizard, comes in with a four headed hydra dragon and is trying to take away Worm, the dragon.

Ragweed has a choice of going to Dimwood Forest or to the city, Amperville. When he gets off the train, he is confronted by the cat Silversides, president of F.E.A.R. But a mouse named Clutch (a car part; all of the city mice are named after car parts) saves his life by bringing him into her house, an old car in Mousetown (which is a run-down place in Amperville). Ragweed sees the destruction of one mouse club (where the mice get together and dance), but he starts a new one in an old bookstore that is safe from any attack of cats. So the conflict is about these mice trying to protect their lives from the cats.
