What is the setting of the book? |
The setting is in Hong Kong, where Hazel lives. The main characters travel around Hong Kong: a marketplace, a mansion, etc. At the start of the book, they’re in England for a tiny bit. |
Who is/are the main character(s)? What are they like? |
The main characters are Hazel and Daisy. They have a detective agency. Daisy is from England, and Hazel is from Hong Kong. Daisy is more bold and gets more attention in England, but Hazel gets more attention in Hong Kong. Hazel is kind of shy and more cautious. |
What is the conflict of the story? |
Su Li, Hazel’s maid, was murdered in an elevator in a bank. Wu Shing, the elevator operator, kidnapped Hazel’s newborn baby brother, Teddy. The murder weapon was a pin Hazel lost. The suspects are Svensson (someone who wants money from Hazel’s father), Fu (someone who runs a tea shop and wants money), and Wa Fan (who wants money). |
What was the conclusion of the book? |
Mrs. Svensson and Hazel’s mother were working together in the plot! Wu Shing was killed by Mrs. Svensson. They got Teddy back, and Hazel’s mother was let go because she didn’t mean for Su Li to be killed. |
While reading the book, what were your emotions? |
It was REALLY exciting! I thought the murderer was Ms. Fu. It was sad, though; Hazel really liked Su Li. It was a happy reunion between Teddy and his family. |
Do you think the book had a moral? If so, what was it? |
Since Hazel’s father “took” Hazel away to England, Hazel’s mother has been angry at Hazel’s father. That’s why she kidnapped Teddy, to take Teddy away from him. If someone does something you don’t like, talk to them. |

Why did you give the book this rating? |
It was great! Hazel and Daisy did a lot of great investigating, and their work paid off. I really liked Ping, Hazel’s other maid; she’s very kind and gentle. Robin Stevens is really great at writing books; I’ve read a lot of hers. |
What was your favorite/least favorite part? |
My favorite was when they got Teddy back. I didn’t have a least favorite part. I really liked when they found out who kidnapped Teddy! I was very surprised that it wasn’t Ms. Fu. |
Would you recommend this book to others? Why? |
I would totally reccomend this if you can handle sad or violent parts, but you love action, suspense, and mystery. Any age would probably love Robin Stevens. |
